CREATE A Family preferences WORKSHEET

In addition to the Family-Caregiver Agreement, we suggest creating a worksheet to help your nanny become adjusted as quickly as possible to your family's unique needs and preferences.

Review each section below and create a worksheet that you can print and share with your nanny in the first week of service if possible. 

MEAL PREPARATION/FEEDING

Feeding schedule, food allergies to be aware of; approved table foods (e.g. fruits, crackers); portion sizes; preparation instructions

BATHING & DRESSING

Bathing schedule (when & how often); preferred products; specific safety procedures; preferred clothing items

NAP/SLEEP SCHEDULE

What time(s) & how long to nap; established routines for putting baby down (e.g. reading a favorite story)

PLAY DATES, CLASSES & ACTIVITIES

Contact info, location & other specifics on existing playmates & playgroups. Include info on local library programs, preferred parks and playgrounds, weekly classes and managing transportation back & forth.

CREATIVE PLAY/LEARNING DEVELOPMENT

Specific on games, books and preferred learning activities nanny should be aware of and continue in your absence. For babies, “tummy time” how often & how long

HOUSEHOLD TASKS

Preferences re: tidying up/organizing child’s room & play area; Laundry preferences (preferred products for laundry and cleaning child toys?) other household cleaning responsibilities

FAMILY POLICY ON “SCREEN TIME”

Which devices are allowed for children? When and for how long? (Pediatricians currently recommend no screen time for children 2 years and younger)

FOR FAMILIES WITH BABIES

Product preferences (diapers, lotions, creams, etc.); hand washing policy before & after diaper change; storage & preparation of breast milk or formula before feeding; preferred approach to bottle feeding; method for taking baby’s temperature 

MOBILE PHONE USE

Permitted times/duration to use cell phone when nanny is not supervising and caring for baby
